A mud broth. The mangrove is a mixture of colors, sounds and flavors. In these ecosystems, crabs burrow through the mud and circulate nutrients and gases. They also beat their puãs on the ground, making the sounds of ancestral drums echo from the mud. From the “crab cycle” legends, songs and stories are born. In this article we dialogue with Josué de Castro to rehearse a writing (bio)inspired and referenced in crabs. This resulted in the creation of the film “O Canto do Rio”, produced by undergraduate students in Biological Sciences at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro as part of a research and extension project. The result of this experience is the desire to create a toy so that children and adults can experience the imaginamang, an aesthetic construction to expand the imagination about the life of crabs in the mangroves.
