The “Novena de Terno” is a cultural expression related to popular catholicism, practiced in rural communities in the municipality of Queimadas, in the state of Paraíba. Their presentations have traditionally taken place for several decades in various backyards, through the organization of people engaged in continuing the cultural traits inherited by their ancestors. To ensure the passage of his teachings and share his performance knowledge, the Samba de Coco Mestre Zé Zuca group was created, which performs beyond rural communities and reframes the cultural traits of its locality. Thus, this article seeks to present the cultural dynamics that keep “Novena de Terno” in activity and to reflect on the performance of the group during its presentations.
